Elchemy is a tech-enabled cross-border specialty chemicals marketplace. Our vision is to become the largest global speciality chemicals distributor focussing on discovery and fulfillment using a tech-first approach. 

Chemicals is an extremely important large and fragmented market with multiple inefficiencies in cross border trade. The global speciality chemicals market is $800bn growing at a CAGR of 5.7%. The industry faces glaring challenges including lack of trust, excessive lead times, quality uncertainty, lack of transparency and tons of operational challenges.

In the past 20 months of the company's operation, we have scaled up our operations serving in more than 32 countries and have active partnerships with more than 100s of customers and suppliers. The company has raised a total of upwards of $7.5mn from marquee investors like InfoEdge Ventures, Prime Venture Partners and from promoters of companies like Vinati Organics, Laxmi Organics, and Coromandel International.

Our highly ambitious team comprises alumni from IITs, IIMs, NITs and have extensive experience of working in startups as well as multinational companies. We want to create a team with A-players and rockstars in all roles. When such a team comes together, no vision seems unachievable, and everyone pushes to deliver outstanding results. 

Position Overview:                                     

Elchemy is looking for someone who can join our team as first product manager and shape the future of cross-border chemicals manufacturing and distribution. As the first full time product manager, apart from the founders and other team members, we want someone who will own strategy, own execution AND who’s happy to roll their sleeves up and do the work. The ideal candidate would be a person who has seen a startup get off the ground before and is ready to commit to it again.

We are looking for someone who:

• Thinks big, can craft a compelling vision, and understands the big picture
• Is curious and thinks through first principles - What we are trying to build has not been built by anyone, hence thinking from first principles is extremely critical
• Loves speed - We are a very young company and strongly believe that speed is the biggest moat for startups. 
• Is comfortable with failure and running experiments - we will experiment a lot, and are humble enough to accept failures and move ahead
• Is highly data-driven and measures everything you execute to course correct
• Is great at communication, can inspire commitment in others, and align the team well
• Is great at problem-solving and has a knack for figuring out solutions to ambiguous situations
• Is great at building and thinking through frameworks
• Has a lot of empathy - As a product manager, you will need to work with many stakeholders, and being empathetic is a necessary skill we are looking for
• Can balance trade-offs between chasing growth and product stability
• Is comfortable working with constrained resources - we embrace frugality and would love someone who aligns with it
• Focuses more on outcomes rather than just implementation

    Roles and Responsibilities:

• Product Strategy & Goals: Driving and sharing vision and value prop, target market, product positioning, product and business goals
• Prioritisation & Alignment: Use of prioritisation frameworks, strategic roadmaps, company and stakeholder alignment
• Product & Business Metrics: Defining and tracking the product north star and key metrics, experiments, impact on business results 
• Customer Feedback and Insights: Aggregating and actioning behavioural data, sales and growth insights, customer feedback, market research
• Delivery and Release Management: Driving delivery timelines, release coordination, deliverables planning and tracking
• Product Documentation, Tools & Frameworks: Driving and refining product documentation, product team tools and frameworks
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends: Being on top of new innovations happening in the industry, reading a lot on the competitive landscape, and recommending strategic initiatives.

    Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in product management, with a track record of working closely with engineers and designers
• Background in computer science or strong technical aptitude, including familiarity with AI concepts
• Experience in supply chain, B2B, or cross-border domains
• Proven track record in building products focused on automation and operational efficiency
