About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support our Finance team in managing daily accounting functions and ensuring statutory compliance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recording day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, handling accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with month-end closing. This role also includes preparing statutory returns (e.g., GST, TDS), maintaining compliance records, and coordinating with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Accounting Operations
- Record and process all daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintain accurate ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are resolved.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Handle full cycle of accounts payable: review, verify, and process vendor invoices and ensure
- timely payments.
- Manage accounts receivable: monitor receivables ageing, record receipts, and follow up on
- outstanding customer payments.
3. Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing
- Assist with preparing periodic financial reports and schedules.
- Support month-end close processes, including accruals and adjustments.
- Provide analysis of financial data as required by finance leadership.
4. Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and file statutory returns such as GST, TDS, PT & PF within prescribed timelines.
- Maintain statutory records and documentation for compliance and audit purposes.
- Monitor compliance deadlines and ensure zero penalties or delays.
5. Regulatory & Audit Support
- Coordinate with external auditors during statutory and internal audits.
- Prepare and organize necessary documentation for audit reviews.
- Assist in filings under corporate law, including annual returns and maintenance of statutory
- registers where applicable.
6. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to internal accounting controls and standard operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve operational
- efficiency.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Prior experience (typically 1–4+ years) in accounting, preferably with exposure to statutory
- compliance (GST, TDS). Experience with statutory filings and external audit coordination is
- a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP/Finance systems) and MS Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills with ability to interact with internal teams, vendors, and
- auditors.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working in a CA firm or corporate accounting environment.
- Knowledge of additional statutory compliances (ROC/Company Law filings) would be
- beneficial.
- Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
